12 Saturdays from Dec 3 - Mar 25  -   Noon-3pm   "Draping Wovens 1"  -  3 credit
Cost: $975 for 12 weeks of 3hr classes    Instructor: Pamela Ptak

Draping with muslin on a dress form, fashion designers create 3 dimensional garments with beautiful lines, fine fit, perfect proportion and smart details. Learning to visualize and "sculpt" a garment in 3 dimensions is an essential skill for a designer intent on creating unique and original work. Starting with basic bodices, skirts and dresses, students learn to drape every element used to create five of the most popular and successful silhouettes in fashion history. Each element is a required building block in fashion design and once understood, each can later be re-conceptualized in a myriad of ways to create an endless array of beautiful garments.
Each student will drape in muslin on a dress form, then true it in and re-pin it as a 1/2 body muslin. An understanding of draping provides a fine background to sewers looking for perfect fit.
College Prep: Students preparing for college fashion design programs may use this class to gain excellent draping skills helpful to succeed in college.
Class Dates:
This Saturday class includes several skipped weekends throughout the semester for larger homework assignments & for family obligations. Classes run on Dec 3, 10, 17, Jan 7, 14, 28, Feb 4, 18, 25, Mar 11, 18, 25
