Service Description
Pattern Making1 12wk class Thurs Dec5-Mar6 Learn industry methods used to design your own wonderfully creative custom patterns. Working with industry slopers (patterns used for standard garment fit) students will make their own set of industry slopers and use them through the semester to learn a wide range of techniques used in women's blouses, tops, skirts and dresses. For each lesson, students start with a simple sketch, interpret the sketch in a pattern draft & create the pattern pieces. Garment details covered in Pattern Making 1 include necklines, collars, facings, button & zipper openings, sleeves with vents & cuffs, dart manipulation, gathers, tucks, shoulder & hip yokes and midriff panels. Students will learn to true-in and perfect their patterns and add seam allowances, hems & notches. Final semester project is a garment design including sketch, original draft, full pattern set & sewn "fit muslin" garment created by each student & presented to instructor and class. Class Dates: This Saturday class includes several skipped weekends throughout the semester for larger homework assignments & for family obligations. Bring to first class: notebook & no. 2 pencils. Supply list will be available at 1st class. Most tools & supplies needed for this class may be purchased in class or ordered online between class 1 & 2.
